What we believe

The Charter

What the Scripture says about the word of God, who belongs to God, and who he is.

The King James Bible is the infallible word of God

We hold the King James (Authorized) Version to be the infallible, preserved word of God in English — given by inspiration, pure in every word, and standing for ever.

“All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16 (KJB)

“The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

Psalm 12:6 (KJB)

“Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

Psalm 12:7 (KJB)

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Matthew 24:35 (KJB)

“Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

Proverbs 30:5 (KJB)

“Thy word [is] true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments [endureth] for ever.”

Psalm 119:160 (KJB)

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

Isaiah 40:8 (KJB)

By faith and promise

Abraham's children are those who believe. The covenant belongs to the child of promise.

“Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.”

Galatians 3:7 (KJB)

“They which are the children of the flesh, these [are] not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”

Romans 9:8 (KJB)

“And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Galatians 3:29 (KJB)

“Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed… which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.”

Romans 4:16 (KJB)

Led by the Spirit

The children of God are those led by his Spirit.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

Romans 8:14 (KJB)

“But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.”

Galatians 5:18 (KJB)

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

Romans 8:16 (KJB)

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.”

John 16:13 (KJB)

Known by their fruits

The evidence of belonging is the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, and the rest. Fruit grows from the root; it does not earn the place.

“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”

Matthew 7:16 (KJB)

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22–23 (KJB)

“By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

John 13:35 (KJB)

One fold out of every nation

God gathers his people from all nations into one fold. There is no preferred people and no excluded people in Christ.

“Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring… and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd.”

John 10:16 (KJB)

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free… for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Galatians 3:28 (KJB)

“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy… for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”

Revelation 5:9 (KJB)

Jesus is King

The one fold has one shepherd, and he is King of kings and Lord of lords. His kingdom is everlasting, and every knee shall bow to him.

“The Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

Luke 1:32–33 (KJB)

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Philippians 2:10–11 (KJB)

“And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Revelation 19:16 (KJB)

The signatures in the text

Numbered by seven

The King James Bible is not only pure in its words; it is exact in its numbers. Counted through the whole text, phrase after phrase falls on an exact multiple of seven, and the totals answer to one another the way a seal answers to its impression. We set a few of them down below — not as the reason we believe the Book, but as marks within a Book we already believe. The Scripture stands on its own word; these are stars set round about it.

Counts taken across the whole text of the King James Bible, case- and scope-sensitive as noted.

The psalmist said it first, and said it best: the words of the LORD are “as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times” (Psalm 12:6). Hold fast

These things we hold, and hold fast

None of this is new, and none of it is our own invention. It is the faith once delivered to the saints. We neither add to the word of God nor take from it; our part is to keep it — to hold fast the form of sound words in faith and love, and to contend earnestly for the truth that was given, not devised.

“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”

2 Timothy 1:13 (KJB)

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

Jude 1:3 (KJB)

Questions on the Charter

Why do you quote only the King James Bible?

Because we hold it to be the infallible, preserved word of God in English — given by inspiration, pure in every word, and standing for ever (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 12:6–7; Matthew 24:35). It is our standard for doctrine and practice.

Are we saved by good works?

No. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9, KJB) Good fruit is the evidence of belonging, not the price of it.

Does God love only one people or nation?

No. His family is gathered out of every nation into one fold under one shepherd (John 10:16). In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, but all are one (Galatians 3:28).

What if I belong to no church or group?

Belonging is by faith and promise, not by membership in any body of men. As many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God (Romans 8:14).
